BMR Restoration on Solaris 10 machines

Hello all,

I have started BMR restoration on solaris 10 sparc machines by media boot method,

but its failing with below error,

Starting Bare Metal Restore...

ERROR: Failed to retrieve "/tmp/0A0A38EC.restore".

The environment details which I am working are:

Master Sever:Windows 64-bit operating system,Netbackup Version:7.0.1

Client:Solaris 10 Sparc,NB-7.0

Boot server:Solaris 10 Sparc,NB-7.0

When I am starting Prepare to restore from master server I am getting warning as,

"The kernel version of the SRT,'Generic_141444-09' is not same as the kernel version of the client 'Generic_142909-17'"

Kindly suggest ..

Thanks and Regards,

  • If your PrepareToRestore(bmrprep) operation is successful, you can go for booting.

Please make sure that, while client booting there is only one Bootserver (your bootserver) is active in your client subnet, else there is chance that other bootservers may respond to you clients network boot request and may result in restore failures.

For more details about network boot settings you can refer BMR Admin guide.

  • You dont need to create the file "/tmp/0A0A38EC.restore". It will be prepared when you trigger PrepareToRestore on master server and it will be fetched to client during restore. This will happen automatically.

If your client is having only one nic, then below command on OK prompt will work.

    {0} ok. boot net

  • Thanks for all support...

I will update the status once completed the activity.

  • Hello all,

BMR restoration activity on solaris machines completed successfully.

I have performed through media boot only.

    Thanks all for your support..
