Change the media ID barcode

Hi,

I have a netbackup 6.5 installed on over server and connected to SL24 with an LTO4 tape drive. Now every time I add a new tape I get L4 added to media ID. For example the 003149 media will have 3219L4 as a media id. I don’t need the L4 to be added to media id. Please help

    I hope you have not yet started using the tapes for backups?

    The new rule will only apply to NEW media. You can delete all tapes without Assign Time and inventory the robot after you have modified Media ID Generation rule.

    In addition to the posts above here is a summary of what you need to do

    1. Delete all unassigned media from NetBackup

    2. Go to Media and Device Management - Robots - TLD(0), right click and select Inventory

    3. Select the Advanced Options button and go to the Media ID generation Rules tab

    4. For the robot number that has this issue add a rule that says it has 8 digits and a rule of 1:2:3:4:5:6

    5. Reinvenory the robot - this should add all media in correctly

    6. Note that on some versions on NetBackup this setting is stored per Admin Console so for any remote admin console make sure thet also have the setting.

    7. Make a note of all media already used by NetBackup - eject them and put them to one side until they expire

    8. When they have expired delete them from NetBackup, put them back into the library so that they are added in correctly

    9. Label each one from the command line using the bplable command - this allows you to overwrite the tape header with the correct Media ID - must be done from a command line as it prompts you to overwrite it.
