Cross mount points for mssql backup

Hello,

Cross mount points are used in Linux/Unix File system (Standard Policy Type) backups, not with SQL. You cannot enable it, its impossible (and not required).

For a MS-SQL policy, you do not specify drive letters, mount points or any kind of file or folder-level backup.

You provide a path to a script in Backup Selection.
The script will list the database names or $all.

SQL knows where the databases are and send the data to NetBackup.

The idea was increase of performance of very large backup that each datafile will be on different mountpoint of the same drive, where we have 10Gbit NIC.

so the cross mountpoints is possible to enable, then will be increased performance ...

As per my previous post - you specify databases to be backed up. 
Not files/folders/mountpoints, etc.

I think you are looking for multistreaming/multiplexing to backup multiple databases simultaneously, right?

(Cross mountpoints are for filesystems and has nothing to do with performance, multistreaming, etc. 'Allow multiple data streams' is what gives you multistreaming for Standard or MS-Windows policies.

As others pointed out, when doing an MS-SQL-Server policy type, cross mount points doesn't come into play and the data should be backed up.

However, if you make the SQL Server a VM and want to use application-aware VMware backups, be aware that Exchange, SharePoint, or SQL Server databases are not backed up if they exist in mount point volumes.

thanks, but i did already these tunings

so idea was to put each datafile on each mountpoint to increase performance of backup

as i understand if this will be set, it will work? or won't

It seems you want to ensure that more than one data file is backed up simultaneously. 
Similar to multiple data streams for a filesystem policy, right?

As per the first TN that I have posted, BATCHSIZE can be used to accomplish this.

Extract:

BATCHSIZE is the number of databases NetBackup will attempt to back up simultaneously. If, for example, there are 50 databases on the SQL server, and the BATCHSIZE variable is set to 5, when the backup initiates, the NetBackup SQL extension will grab the first five databases, and start running the backup of those five databases. Depending on the configuration of the media server and the storage units, the backup will use five drives. See the technote "How to back up multiple Microsoft SQL Databases in parallel using more than 1 tape drive" in the Related Documents section below for more information on how to use multiple drives for this type of operation. 

I think we all forgot to ask more about the environment. Please describe your infrastructure, and also the performance you're getting now, and also how many databases make up the 20TB.

if we use on some datafile mount points, will these mount points exlcuded (just overjumped) by backup? or backup will be completed?

What do you mean by "if we use on some datafile mount points"?
