Exchange 2010 DB restore

has anyone attempted an exchange 2010 database restore with NBU 7.0.1?  I have been backing up our exchange environment for months with out any issues.  just a soon as i need to do a restore of course it fails with the generic error code 5. 

I searched briefly for some documetation on this and really havent found anything for 2010.  I was trying to restore the database and the log files to a folder so that we could use powershell to mount the database and extract the mailbox.  When i start the restore it creates the files but fails with "tar did not find all the files to be restored". 

This is the first restore I have attempted so i am probably going about this wrong way soI am all ears for suggestions.  Thanks.
