Fibre Transport resources are not available

Hi All,

I'm facing problem to restore files: NBU status: 2075, EMM status: Fibre Transport resources are not available

the restore failed to recover the requested files  (5). I have restart NBU services a couple times to make sure everything is ok, but still it failed to restore the files. Have anyone experienced the same problem? Please help.

*The NBU client is 6.5 and NBU master is 7.0.1 , running on Solaris 10 64 bit

    • Install SAN client evaluation license key on master server (bpminlicense –add_keys)
    • Check the default preferences of FT

    bash-3.00# ./nbftconfig -getconfig -verbose

    Master Server      : XYZ

    Client Ports/Server: 2

    Clients/Target port: 2

    FT Preference      : preferred

    Backup Wait Time   : 15

    Restore Wait Time  : 5

    • Set the FT preference to “never”

    bash-3.00# ./nbftconfig -setconfig -ftpref never

    Defaults configured successfully

    • Recycle the NetBackup services and try restore again

  • This seems to be a 7.0.1 bug: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH144671

Quick solution in bottom of TN:

3 - Confirmed the 'Fibre Transport' branch is displayed under the master server's 'Host Properties':
-> On the master server; opened the NetBackup Administration Console > Host Properties > Master Server > Properties
-> The 'Fiber Transport' branch was listed and set to "Always"
-> Changed the 'Fiber Transport' parameter to "Never" and cycled the NetBackup services

    Hope this helps.

  • Just now, I opened Host Properties>Master Server>Properties, but there is no 'Fiber Transport' option. What do you suggest I should do? Thanks

  • Please read the TN provided by Marianne again.

You have to install the EEB to resolve this issue.

Downloaded and installed the EEB (NB_7.0.1_ET2110878_1.zip) and ran the "eebinstaller.2110878.1.AMD64.exe" executable file

and then step 3,4 and 5

or I would suggest to update your master server to latest MP if you can't got to 7.5.0.4

  • Oh, sorry for not noticing it. Ok, I'll try to installed the EEB first and the next step, then I'll let you know the result later. Thank you very much
