What happens when the backup is still running after the configured 6hrs interval. (if for example, it is set to run every 6hrs frequency)
Will it wait for the backup to complete and start another backup session or will it start even if the previous backup is still running?

no, frequency is evaluated against start of backup, not end. So it will be launched immediately after previous backup finishes.

it will wait. NetBackup won't launch more active job instances of the same policy. After all, you can simply confirm it by configuring large backup with for example 1 hour frequency.

So after backup completion and its interval is 6hrs ( for example).. it will start counting 6hrs before running the backup.. Is that right?
Please let us know what is you backup window. Even with frequency setup you should check what is the backup windows. Backup will not kick off if the time is outside of the Backup Window
Frequency: every 3hrs
Window Time: 10AM-12MN.
Sometimes backup doesn't complete within 3 hrs that is why i wanted to know - if it didn't finish within 3 hrs. What will happen.
Will the backup start right after the backup completes?
or
Since it lapses the 3hrs. After backup completion, will it count 3 hrs then run the backup once reached.
