is bpadm removed from NBU 7.7.1?

Just setup a new NBU domain using v7.7.1 and couldn't find bpadm anywhere. Is it no longer supported on v7.7.1? What is the new replacement?

Thanks!

  • found it in http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC8512

"... Two commands that operated only on UNIX systems have been removed and replaced with the NetBackup Administration Console: bpadm and vmadm. New features, enhancements, and changes 25 NetBackup 7.7 new features and enhancements The bpadm utility provided a menu interface that administrators used to configure NetBackup and monitor its operations. The vmadm utility presented a menu of operations from any terminal."

This sucks for us who must manage remotely as the java console will have to be displayed thru X tunneled ssh thru WAN with 150-200ms latency :(

  • Yes, bpadm and vmadm are no longer present in v7.7 onwards.  There is no replacement.  For v7.7 onwards the only "admin interface" is the Java GUI.

  • Bummer, I used those tools a lot.  Now have to run discreet commands to modify policies, storage units, etc. via CLI.

    Oh well. frown
