Upgrade to Netbackup 7.7.1

hello,

i have a media server, on Linux Redhat 5.7.

the Netbackup version is 7.5.0.6.

Master server on Windows 2008 R2, and the Netbackup is entreprise 7.5.0.6

i need to upgrade to Master and media server to 7.7.1. so for the Windows is not womplex because it's under Windows,

but on Linux, i have the Netbackup binary,  and two files "NetBackup_7.7.1_CLIENTS1.tar.gz" and "NetBackup_7.7.1_CLIENTS2.tar.gz", so, when i split them to one fil, and extract it i didn't find the upgrade script, all what i find is /install.sh and other folders.

if i run the install command from the "NetBackup_7.7.1_LinuxR_x86_64.tar.gz" after unzip, it will do the upgrade of the media server ?

i learned the upgrade file on this link, but i didn't find the upgrade instructions :

https://download.veritas.com/resources/content/live/DOCUMENTATION/8000/DOC8958/en_US/NetBackup771_Upgrade_Guide.pdf?__gda__=1449767638_55c33afec8bcf60b326f9ee4f21be359

Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • NBU 7.7.1 is not a patch - it is a new install. So, no NB_update - run install script.

  • Yes - You need to run the NB_update script from the "NetBackup_7.7.1_LinuxR_x86_64.tar.gz"

Please also refer to the NBU 7.7.1 upgrade instruction:

  • True according to http://www.veritas.com/docs/000040130

    1. NetBackup 7.7.1 will be a complete installation package.  Prior to upgrading run a Catalog Backup of all databases including Media Server Deduplication Pool (MSDP).

    2. Upgrade to NetBackup 7.7.1 can occur from all NetBackup 7.x versions. OpsCenter should be updated first, followed by the NetBackup Master Server, then Media Servers, then Clients.

    3. The currently installed version of NetBackup affects the upgrade process for the NetBackup 7.7.1 upgrade.  Please review the NetBackup 7.7.1 Upgrade Guide for more details:  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC8958

    4. Before upgrading, please review the full list of known issues on:

  • thanks a lot for your return Marianne.

the upgrade has been done successfully....

but, i have a little issue, when i upgraded the master, my colleague can no longer administer the infrastructure by the new java admin console, they can just view the compenent, but there is no policies for example...

how can i add them so they can administer the Master server too ?

when the installation progress i saw the nbpaz process was installing too !!

    thanks in advance for help

  • Opps, many apologies, my error - NBU 7.7.1 is indeed a full install not a patch, I've remove my advice as it was indeed incorrect.
