  • Try Increasing the Domino server's "Backup Timeout" setting.

This involves adding a setting to the Domino server's notes.ini file. Please refer to the following articles for more information and instructions:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH29863
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21229170

Note that Domino Server must be restarted in order for the change to notes.ini to take effect (simply using 'set config' in the Domino console does not accomplish this).

You can increase Domino Server's "Backup Timeout" setting by adding "Backup_Timeout=nn" (where nn equals the number of minutes allowed by Domino to backup each database -- 60 is a good place to start) to the notes.ini file. Note that Domino Server must be restarted in order for this change to take effect.

  • Hi Dyneshia,

IBM link is not working. However we working with notes team to increase backup_timeout setting. What is useful value except 60 , backup_timeout value depends on any other value.

    Thanks,

    Sagar

  • Sorry, Im not quite qure what you mean.  However I would start by setting the timeout to 60.  This vaule should not be dependent on anything else.  You could start at 45 and work your way up by 15 min. until you have a sucessful backup.

  • Hi Dyneshia,

I mean to say backup_timeout parameter is depend on any other services or database file size or .nsf file size. We have increased the time to 120 sec but still skipping the backup.

    Any Suggestion.

    Regads,

    Sagar.
