LVM and Netbackup

Can anyone share some informations about the LVM's and its implemetation with NBU

  • NBU does not care about the underlying volume manager for filesystem backups. It only cares about the Filesystem. All 'Posix compliant' filesystems are supported. The only time that NBU cares about the volume management software is for BMR backups. Here the underlying structures need to be captured for supported volume managers. For more info about supported filesystems and volume managers with BMR, see the OS compatibility list. (Links in my signature. ) Hope this helps.

  • What do you want to know about LVM?

Are you referring to Linux Logical Volume Manager?

Do you need to know if it is supported?
    Filesystem (Standard) backup?
    With or without BMR?

Please be specific when posting queries/questions.
(It is a bit hard to try and read someone's mind....)

  • M sorry Granny :)

Yes, I am referring to the one you mentioned. Linux Logical volume manager. I know it is supported but as a Standard backup?

I need to know how it works in backend and how netbackup takes  a backup of LVM servers?
