NDMP Backup COnfiguration with HP 3PAR Storage..

Hi All ,

Here i need to configure a NDMP backup with HP 3PAR Storage. I have an idea how to Configure a NDMP backup in Netbackup.

But Need Some clarification from Storage side.it is fesible to take a NDMP backup.

Any Setting to be done on Storage system.

Any License to be required on Storage system.

Thanks in Advance,

Bharat.

  • HP 3PAR is not supported as NDMP device.

Have you had a look at the HCL that I posted on 27 January? The only HP device in the NDMP section is  X9000 Network Storage Systems series.

You will need to backup data on this storage on the servers where the luns are mapped as Drive Letters or Mount points.

  • I am not quite clear about what exactly you need to backup.

Where does HP 3PAR Storage fit in the picture?

Is this where Disk Storage Unit is created?
Or is this the storage that you want to backup with NDMP?

Supported NDMP filers/appliances are listed in NBU HCL: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495

How to backup NDMP is covered in NetBackup for NDMP Administrator's Guide :  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC5164

Also see: NDMP Appliance Information: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH31885

Yes, you need separate NBU for NDMP license. discuss with your local Symantec reseller.
