Recurring backup works two days, then hangs constantly.

Running BE 2010 R3, Version 13.0 Rev. 5204 (64 bit) with Service Pack 2 and Hotfix 180429 installed on Windows Server 2008 Standard (server is fully patched). This backup stopped working a few week...

    The backup has worked several times now; after switching back to "eject after backup" back on, it failed.

    This must be the issue.

    Though it may be benificial to post my own answer.

I had originally been using LTO3 tapes, but also tried a B2D as well.

 

I had created a new backup yesterday with the same selection list and successfully ran the job.

 

Looking back thru the Windows Event Viewer, there was a recurring message "Please removet he media from the drive, and Respond OK".  Since this was an unattended backup, no one was ever present to respond OK.  I looked thru the BE logs and never saw this message. 

If I do not eject the tape from the external drive, the backup completes successfully.

 

Weird.

 

Thinking it may be a drive issue now; any further thoughts?
