Netbackup - Not able to backup DFSR folder individually

Hi All,

Currently i have a client thats run DFSR service with total data size ~2TB. The current policy is set to backup the root folder of DFSR which is taking ~3.5 days. Therefore, i have created a new policy (duplicate of existing policy) and in the backup selection list, i have added DFS shares individually to enable the multi-stream. However, when i run the backup, only 3/4 folders is succesffull and the rest ended with error "71 - none of the files in the file list exist"

Could someone advice me if i have missed anything?

Existing Policy - Backup List:

Shadow Copy Components:\User Data\Distributed File System Replication\DfsrReplicatedFolders

New Policy - Backup List:

Shadow Copy Components:\User Data\Distributed File System Replication\DfsrReplicatedFolders\Folder A
Shadow Copy Components:\User Data\Distributed File System Replication\DfsrReplicatedFolders\Folder B

.....

Shadow Copy Components:\User Data\Distributed File System Replication\DfsrReplicatedFolders\Folder Z

The socket errors are after this and are from everything shutting down (quite normal).

    Researching this type of issue.

Suspecting either Shadow Copy Components:\User Data\Distributed File System Replication\DfsrReplicatedFolders\FS does not actually have data, or that VSS did not snap it properly.

Are there vss events recorded when this path fails?

Perhaps you would have better luck on the source server if this is not the source?

-Update- Maybe one of these technotes will help?

  • I remember now that I have started to download the zip-file a couple of days ago, but got busy with other things because the file is HUGE and download was taking a long-long time...

Even trying to unzip it now is taking a long time.

File sizes are 815 MB and 1.2 GB.

Please... none of use trying to help here has the time to sift through huge log like these.

I received "Disk full while accessing 040715.LOG" (even though I have 227 GB free space on my laptop).

I guess the 4 GB ram on my laptop ran out....

Probably best to log a call with Symantec Support - they have tools to read large logs.

    *** EDIT ***

Eventually managed to open 2nd log.

All I can find is TCP errors:

    2:18:41.993 AM: [7068.5908] <16> dtcp_read: TCP - failure: recv socket (484) (TCP 10053: Software caused connection abort)
    12:18:41.993 AM: [7068.5908] <16> dtcp_read: TCP - failure: recv socket (476) (TCP 10058: Can't send after socket shutdown)

    Please show us policy config:
    bppllist <policy-name> -U

and all text in Details tab of status 71 job.
