NetBackup / Devices

All,

Getting this error when selecting Devices/Drives in Netbackup Console Administrator:
Could not connect to vmd on host XYZ (70).
Used vmglob -get_ghdhost  to get the host name/
Hostname returned : nbutest.impactsci.com
Then used vmglob -set_gdbhost to reset the host name just incase the name was incorrect.
Still getting the same error.
I then tried launching the 'Configure Storage Devices' wizard and get Server connection failed. Verify services or daemons are up and running.
Any input would be most helpful.

  • Loging to the media server and see if VMD is running.  Use bpps -x

Check all the MM services are running
  • Sriram,
When running bppx -x receive the following:

    NB Process
tail: cannot open '+2' for reading: No such file or directory
    MM Processes
tail: cannot open '+2' for reading: No such file or directory
    Shared VERITAS Processes
tail: cannot open '+2' for reading: No such file or directory

Note : This Netbackup test setup is in PC -standalone  mode and not attached to the network yet -- meaning no tape devices attached.  There is a second drive in the pc configured as a slave and is mounted as /dev/hdb1 to test some backups and restores.

The jndSA console shows these daemon's running
    nbjm - Running
    nbsl - Running
    bpdbm - Running
    vmd - Running
    nbrb - Stopped
    nbpem - Running
    NB_dbsrv - Running
    nbnos - Running
    ltid - Running
    nbemm Stopped
    pbrd - Running
Could the stopped daemon's be causing the issues?
