Netbackup client install fails on 64-bit Windows 2012 R2 Standard

Hi,

I'm trying to install netbackup 7.5 on a 64-bit client machine running windows 2012 R2  standard howver the installation is failing. On reviewing the installation error logfile , I found the error "Action ended 7:04:12: INSTALL. Return value 3.". I have tried the silent install but that too doesnt work. Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

    Did you remember to right click on the setup icon and select "Run as administrator"

    netbackup 7.5.0.6 client and above must be installed on windows 2012

     I found the below messages in the log file. Looks like a reboot is pending from some other installation.

     

    08-05-2014,07:02:46 : One or more entries in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations 
    08-05-2014,07:02:46 : registry value are associated with products other than NetBackup. This indicates that previous operations on this host are 
    08-05-2014,07:02:46 : pending completion following a reboot of the system. Consider finishing pending operations by rebooting the system.

    Can I directly install 7.5.0.6? I usually install the base version, which is 7.5 and then patch it to 7.5.06.That's what I'm trying in this case too.

    yes u can directly install 7.5.0.6  (windows 2012 support was introduced in 7.5.0.6)

    Hi Pangal,

    The below technote mentions 7.5.0.6 REQUIRES 7.5 to be installed before applying. Could you please share a bit more information on how to install 7.5.0.6 directly.

    @Andy, I happened to click on the "Have you still got the box it came in?" link , it brought back fonds memories of my techsupport days. Thanks for sharing the story.
