Step 1: Confirm that Windows Device Manager sees robot (unknown Medium Changer is fine) as well as tape drives. I personally prefer Veritas/Symantec tape driver for 32bit Windows.
Step 2: Stop and disable Removable Storage Manager.
Step 3: Use Device Configuration Wizard to configure robot and tape drives. Wizard will also create Storage Unit.
Step 4: Use Media GUI to create volume pools, otherwise all tapes will go to NetBackup pool by default. (Read up in Admin Guide I about pools and also about Scratch pool.) Add Barcode Rule to add new tapes to Scratch pool if you want to use multiple pools & Scratch (info also in Admin Guide I - chapter 9,
Volume pool operations).
Step 5: Inventory robot (Info also in chapter 9,
Adding volumes using a robot inventory update)
Step 6: Verify that all densities are correct as per my previous post - yours should all be
hcart3.
Step 7: Select Storage Unit and Volume pool in backup policy.
Hope this helps!
