    The lesson for me in this 40+ post thread... I should have asked more questions about the VM itself, and checked the SCL.  Anyway, I've just had another very quick search through the last set of logs, and no reference to xfs, and I couldn't see anything that said unsupported OS or unsupported file system.  But there's no escaping the fact that compatibility lists should always be checked throroughly and carefully. Personally, I never like getting caught out but something that's not in a compatibility list.
