    Tapes are sometimes called tapes, or media or volumes.

    vmquery shows what is in the volume database

    bpmedialist shows what is in the media database

    A tape is in the volume database as soon as it becomes visible to NBU, so any tape that you can see under media is in the vol DB, and it stays there forever, unless you delete it.

    A tape is in the media database only if it contains images.  As soon as the images expire, it is removed from the media db.
