Restore NDMP to different destination

Question

Hi,

We have NetBackup 7.7 running on Windows 2012R2.
	We are currently migrating the userdata from a Celerra filer (backupped with NDMP) to a Windows solution.

As I understand NDMP restores can only be performed to an NDMP destination that also has to be from the same vendor.

Is there any way to&nbsp;restore our historic data&nbsp;without having any NDMP filer in the house?

No, you have to restore like for like, so NDMP to NDMP. Windows to Windows, Unix to Unix.

My suggestion was&nbsp;to take a file-level backup via NFS/CIFS.

Another suggestion was to use a simulator.

...and celerra is EMC and I dont know if there is a simulator for that. Netapp there is and Ive tested file restores to it successfuly. Its slow but successful. And cant be used for anything above user files IMO.

You might be able to use unix level commands, Ive also done this successfully but it was a long time ago and was akin to blundering around in the dark!

I found a Celerra Simulator at https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL39171_Celerra_Simulator_5.6_-_One_Datamover.zip

and a manual at&nbsp;https://support.emc.com/docu5599_Celerra-Simulator-Installation-and-Configuration-Guide.pdf?language=en_US

Future will tell if we can succesfully use this as restore environment.
