spoold crash

    Data loss will depend.  Was the failed disk RAID protected?  If not, then it's almost certain to result in a loss of some data.

    Repairing could take a little time and needs some investigation to determine if corruption exists and where it is.  That's a Support event and not something that is easily dealt with via a discussion forum.  There are a number of paths that things can go down.

    I'd strongly suggest making sure your host is healthy first, though.  If it isn't, whatever Support tells you to do is likely to have limited success.

MOF, I have just been told that there may be was a disk failure on the Hypervisor on which this VM resides (the media server is a VM).

So which could explain this behaviour.

The problem now, is that how we can fix this? we tried the repair but it didn't work..

Any ideas please? will be there a data loss? if yes how to prevent this?

    Hello Charles,

    Thank you a lot for your helpful replies,

    The disks were configured with RAID, that is why we are wondering if we can still repair the system.. and fix that spad error first then we will see for the spoold.

    Right now, we are waiting for disk's replacements and then do again the chkdks, msdpcheck & maybe the repair again..

    Fortunately, we don't have a lot of images (only 12 for 145GB) and they are all replicated to another site.

    based on your replies, we will try to fix the host's health first and if we can't, we will go on a new fresh install and replicate back those images.

    I will mark your replies as a solution.
