SuSe (linux) client install problem

Hi all,

I am trying to install a Linux SUSE client on to linux servers and I am getting the following error

I am trying to locate the most current compatilbility lists to see if I am using the wrong version.

The errors seems to me as if the installation binaries are incomplete.

Please download again and ftp to client in binary format before you extract.
	Check the md5 checksum before you extract the files. (md5 checksums are available on FileConnect where installation packages are downloaded from).

Or maybe /mnt is a network mount with insufficient permissions for local system?
	Please try to copy installation files to the local system or else verify export/share permissions on the source system.

According to OS comparability matrix page 56&nbsp;Linux,SuSE2.6.16 is the client to use. So you got that right.

I have not seen this message before - but lets start with the basic.

Is there enough space in /tmp ?
	Any security software running like endpoint protection ?

Also lets look at tar:

rpm -qa |grep tar

I would like to see if there are any known issues with that version of tar.

Also is the client sles11sp2? (Guessing that based off the kernal listed) Do you have other clients of the same type having problems?

I suspect the install script is trying to write to a directory we don't have permission to write to.

# echo $TMPDIR

Could you try setting the environment variable NB_TMPDIR and trying again?

# export NB_TMPDIR=/some/large/directory

I believe that’s 940M available space in the tmpfs directory? If so I can increase it (have to figure out the command for linux because chfs –a size=### /tmp doesn’t work.&nbsp; I guess that’s just for AIX

a member of the backup team downloaded the client&nbsp; version I will check

This is a new install (SuSE) there is another client (same admins) put in using the same version that I tried to install and it has the same problem.

Our other Linux clients are all (RedHat) and I didn't have this issue with installing the Linux client on them.

I would also suggest check the Installable works on the other system or size of the installable.

if possible freshly copy the new installable on the server and try.
