symantec netbackup command to delete drive from netbackup

Removing a device with tpconfig just removes the drive from the NetBackup configuration of the local host that you performed the command upon, i.e. it might not entirely disappear from NetBackup.

Steps to completely removing drive
from tpconfig, tpautoconf, vmglob and emm DB are cleaned up

Can somebody provide me commands to delete from this utility and the functionality of each.
  • Correct, well nbemm database.

So then, if you run a tpconfig -delete command, where do you think the config is deleted from ?

Wrong - because the device config is not held on the local host.

Read the manual for tpconfig, what does it say the 'delete' option does ?

    There is your answer.

  •

    -delete
Deletes a drive, robot, or host credentials, depending on the accompanying options.

    tpconfig -delete -virtual_machine virtual_machine_name -vm_user_id

Does tpconfig also deletes from vmglob and emm DB?

  • vmglob does not exist at NB 6.x or above.  The command is old, and only looks in EMM

So, you now tell me, where is the device config held ?

  • Correct, well nbemm database.

So tpconfig is only required for deleting a drive from NBU?
