unable to allocate new media for backup storage unit has none available(96). But media is available in Scratch Pool

Hi All, I am getting "unable to allocate new media for backup storage unit has none available(96)". But there are a lot of free tapes in the Scratch pool as well as the pool defined in the policy ...

    For the media you've provided info on the volume has had a physical expiration applied to it:

    Volume Expiration:              06/01/2014 10:26

     

    This has been manually applied & is a date which someone has deemed after which the media is no longer viable for backups, a 'Sell by' or 'Use by' date if you will.

    You *do* have a lot of available media within many pools & the scratch pool & I find it hard to believe that they are all 'expired' in this way, but you never know.

    You can remove this by editting the volume(s) in question.

    The 96 wizard you've already been pointed to is *very good* & should help you resolve any 96 errors.

Are the Scratch tapes in the robot?
And available to the media server defined in the Storage Unit selected in the policy?

If you have gone through the status 96 wizard in above excellent post and still unable to solve the problem, please post all of the following output:

On master server:
available_media
(command is in <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\goodies)

The following command for one of the tapes in Scratch that you feel should be used:
nbemmcmd -listmedia -mediaid <media-id> 
(command is in <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd)
