Understanding the Connectivity of Tape Library with my Media Servers

Hi All,

I am having a hard time in understanding how my Tape Library connected to all my Master and Media servers and how many tape drives each mapped to Media or Master servers ??????

Can anybody help me to understand this , If so where i will be able to get the exact information ??? which config files i have to check ???

    Create an excell spreadshet that looks like the attached, drive names down one side, media servers along the top, then mut an x in the box for each drive where is is connected to a media server,  then you have the picture of what is connected to what.

     Nayabsk,

    as suggested by Martin, see the drive map attached that i have sorted out by the info that you have provided..

    below is the high level view of your setup.

    1) one Drive from each library connected to NDMP host
     2) 16 drives are connnected to master server ( 8 from LTO 0 and 8 from TLD 1)
     3) 8 drives from TLD 0 library connected to 4 media servers (zsswmedb1/2  & bsswmppp1/2 )
     4) 8 drives from  TLD 1 connected to 2 media serveres( zsswmedb1/2) and 7 drives to other 2 media servers( bsswmppp1/2)
     5) one drive is connected to  bsswnpm1

    let me know the below information

    tpconfig -d and tpautoconf -t from all media and master servers

    vmoprcmd output form master server.

    what is the tape library model you have and how many drives it connect...

    attach the detail to this post..i will have a look and try to help you on findng the configurations..

    You would like to know how to manage your Tape Library ?

    tpconfig -d run on each media server will show what is configured in NBU, not necessary what is there (eg. drives could have been physically removed) - drive state is also shown. vmoprcmd run from any media server, will how each drive, followed by the media servers it is configured on.

    And we have 2x IBM TS3500 Tape Library with 9 Drives each which means Totally 18 Drives 

    And we have two TAPE DRIVES configured for NDMP , It means these drives will not show up in the MASTER or MEDIA servers ??? I will be able to see only 16 Drives ??????????

    tpconfig on media server that is configured as NDMP media server  will show own and NDMP drives.

    I prefer tpconfig -l because output  is easier to read and drives are shown as indents under the robot number.

    The commands were given to you to see how devices are attached and configured in your environment.

    You want me to give the output of tpconfig -l on all MEDIA and MASTER servers ?????
