The Pre-Install Checklist is something you should use after you've learned about what Alta Recovery Vault is and how you're going to integrate it into your backup and recovery environment.  It will get you ready for the pre-requisites you'll need to make your install go as easy as possible.  And who doesn't like easy software installs?!
