/usr/openv/db/staging

Hi

can content of /usr/openv/db/staging be deleted manually when no catalog backup is in progress. if it get deleted will it effect any thing like next catalog backup.

  • You can delete the contents yes (don't delete the staging directory though), the database copy will get recreated in here at the next catalog backup

  • Why would you need to delete this?

The size is so small that it should not make a difference on space consumption.

  • Its size is somewhat 4 Gb +, facing space crunch in /opt FS.

Images are stored on another mount point.

  • It'll just get used next time you do a catalog backup. How big is your /opt filesystem? Perhaps there are other files lingering around that don't need to be?

  • It is approx 20 Gb, and openv is of 16 Gb, staging is acquiring almost 4gb +.

I am concenrened if i will make /usr/openv/db/staging directory empty, what it will effect ?

  • It will not affect anything. Staging is used when you do a catalog backup. It makes a copy of your database and database conf files there and backs them up from there instead of using the live database location.
