what is "Active Directory Application Mode" directive?

NBU 7.6.0.3

i made BMR backup of my AD servers using the "All_Local_Drives" directive. then i saw this "Active Directory Application Mode" directive.

was my BMR backup useless then? should i have used this AD directive to do the BMR backup?

  • All_Local_Drives is a superset and contains Active Directory Application Mode.
BMR is ok with only All_Local_Drives directive.

Keep in mind that if you need to restore active directory objects individually you have to follow the instruction of the link
    http://www.veritas.com/docs/000043889
but, again, it is not needed for BMR purposes.

As an advice, do test restores. A backup is not good if you do not know how to restore it. And trying to find out how to restore it or finding that the backup was not ok, at the time of the restore is not a what you need.
