System Recovery versus standard system backup tool of Windows Server 2016/2019
Hi, I'm being asked what is the benefit or superior points about System Recovery versus the standard system backup tool bundled with Windows Server 2016 or 2019. I could think of the following but if there are any others that come to mind, I appreciate the feedback.
1. Multiple OS support (client OSes, virtual machines, Linux)
2. More scheduling options (full, incremental backup, daily, weekly, monthly scheduling options)
3. Backup/Restore speed? I think so but I don't have any concrete evidence about this
4. Be able to mount backup file directly or use Recovery Point Browser to restore file/folder
5. Use System Monitor to monitor multiple machines backup status
6. You could run a system backup while the OS is up and running
7. More backup storage options (cloud storage for instance)
8. P2V conversion
well i can tell you for our use..
We use Symantec Management Platform formerly known as Symantec Client Management Suite or Altiris so for usManagement Side - alot of this is setup initially then it all dynamically works - its awesomesauce
1. ability to remotely assign backup policies
2. ability to remotely assign licenses
3. ability to create backup status reports and have them emailed out
4. ability to remotely assign storageNon Management
1. dissimilar hardware
thats all i got for now... day is winding down and I need to roll...
