B2D pre-allocation not working. Disk still fragmenting
We have enabled the regedit described in Hotfix 27 (which is included in SP3), but have not seen a change in this issue. Current B2D files were deleted and the remainder of the disk was defragmented. The regedit for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\VERITAS\Adamm\ DWORD "PreAllocate"=1 was added on BE server referencing http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/283264.htm. And server has been rebooted. However, the remote B2D drive is still becoming fragmented.
Does anyone know if this pre-allocation functions across the network vs being direct attached storage? I would still think windows could create pre-allocated files across a network, but cannot find references either way.
Server 2003 SP2 running Backup Exec 10.1 (d) build 5629 SP3 installed. Destination folder for the B2D files is on server 2000.
Thanks,
Ken
