Actual compression ratios may vary, depending on the mix of files you are backing up. If you backup a high amount of files that are inherently compressed (zips, jpegs, mp3s, movies, etc...) then your compression ratio will be lower than average.
Manufacturers typically use a 2:1 compression ratio factor when discussing their LTO2 hardware. That unfortunately does not mean everyone gets exactly 2:1. And, 2:1 is optimistic. Commmonly, 1.5-1.8 is a decent average.
