Intelligent Disaster Recovery - Language problem

We are using the polish version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with SP1. We also have VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers Version 10.0 Rev. 5484 with SP3. We have licenses for BEWS 10.0 Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option – Unlimited Clients. When we are using “Prepare for disaster recovery” option (the Intelligent Disaster Recovery Preparation Wizard) an error appears in the “Select Computers to Protect” window:

Error determining OS version from ‘SERVER_NAME’
0xa000d001 (2684407809)

and after it:

Language was not determined from \\’SERVER_NAME’
Nie można znaleźć określonego typu zasobu w pliku obrazu.
(The specific resource type cannot be found in the image file)

We found some solutions on ‘http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/266912.htm’. Although this solution is related to Windows 2000 Server we used the information it contains. We have changed the language in the Regional and Language Options to “English (United States)” like it is said on the web page. But the error still occurs.
Is it possible to use the Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option on the polish version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with SP1?

  • Hello,

In view of your query we would request you to check with the following:

If you are running Intelligent Disaster Recovery Preparation Wizard for the recovery of the local/remote machine then check the language used on the machine by going to:

    Control Panel>Regional Settings>General>Your Locale

In order to obtain information regarding the System's Language , Backup Exec queries the 'sLanguage' registry entry and expects it to match the set of language text ,for example the English System used in UK will have an entry 'ENG' .

If the language setting is different on the operating system Backup Exec may report an error.

Please try changing the language on the system that is producing error to "English-United States" and try running the DRPrep Wizard and check if the error still occurs. You can refer to the following technote for further information:
