Public Folder Limit

When I do a backup of our Public Folder Store, the backup will fail. In the event log under app there is an event with ID 9646 describing a MAPI session exceeded the maximum of 500 objects of type "objtFolder". This makes sense as there are approx 1750 folders under a single folder in the Public Folder Store. MS shows how to increase the maximum, but doesn't recommend it as it might cause the system to hang. Has anyone run across this or have any ideas other than just copying the public folder to a .pst file?

    What you rae facing is a problem related to the inbuilt limitation of MAPI. Backup Exec uses Mapi interface to communicate with MS Exchange, the mapi session cannot handle more than 250 objects.

    The solution provided by Miscrosoft is hence the only one applicable here if your case fufills all conditions specified in this technote.
