How to erase a catalog tape

Hi

I have tried various method to erase a catalog tape to reuse as a normal tape.

Tried vmdelete, vmquery -deassignbyid

For the latter, I can't get the status of the tape (vmquery -m <tape>). No status when I use the command.

The catalog tape is not configured in the catalog settings anymore.

Netbackup NBU 5.1 Windows

Thanks!

  • Mine is persisently hard to remove.

    My vmquery -m <tape>

As you see there are no Status hence the command to use can't be used.

  • Maybe the status is zero, so it's not shown.

    Could you try:
    # /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -deassignbyid 000123 1 0x0

    ...and/or:
    # /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmquery -deassignbyid 000123 1 0
