When I run a FULL backup I get up to about 400 MB/sec file transfer rate (the servers are old and slow, but at least they've got gigabit NICs). When I run an INCREMENTAL backup the transfer rate drops to 11 MB/sec. What on earth is going on? The only thing I can think of is that it's doing the file compare to determine what files have changed, and then doing the copy. If that's the case, shouldn't it firstbuild the list of files to copy, then run the copy all at once? Setup: I have one machine running the BackupExec 11d server with hard drives and a tape drive to which backups are being copied. Backupsof all servers are first run to the hard drives, then later copied totape. All servers being backed up are running the Windows Server 2003 agent with AOFO. There are no SQL Server agents or Exchange agents running as of yet. Thanks!! general information needed about catalogs Hello, I'ma newbieto BackupExec 11d. I have backups running successfully but I'm confused about catalogs. I know the server creates catalogs for each backup job, but after reading the documentation I'm still unclear as to weather I need to so something manually to create/move/whatever the catalog for each backup job. The documentation in the Admin guide didn't seem to give thorough information about catalogs. I need some general info about using them, when to create/modify/whatever the catalogs, etc. Is there any general info around on the forums or the Symantec website? Thanks.
