Specifically, customer isgoing toadd a custom field/attribute to the messageheader and I need to searchin DA for this attribute. One example would be to search by Message ID. Thanks, Kyle Re: Eligible items for Exchange archiving. Sandrine, If you are not removing emails from mailboxes when archiving, you must not be archiving for storage reduction purposes. Therefor, I would assume you are archiving for compliance or legal purposes, or possibly for DR purposes? If that is the case, you should definitely look at implementing Exchange Journaling and EV Journal archiving. TheEV Journal Archiving component would enable you to retain a compliance copy of all emails in EV, allowing you to use mailbox archiving to remove old emails from the end user mailboxes, saving space in exchange, and increasing exchange performance. The savings in exchange storage will eventually offset the cost of the Journal Archiving component. Just a thought! Kyle Re: EV8 and Backup Exec Enterprise Vault Agent 12.5 for the record, although it is not supported, it does work. Just keep in mind since it was not designed for EV 8 it will not backup the databases for the Vault Store Groups since groups and enhanced SIS did not exist yet. In addition, it is not compatible with the new process of setting vaults and indexes in backup state and then clearing backup mode when complete. It still stops and starts services and sets legacy registry values which results in an warning in the event log. So, ignoring the error and unnecessary service restarts, you would still need to run the powershell cmdlets in the pre and post commands for the backup job. That being said, it is not supported by symantec, hence not recommended. Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to add support for ev 8. They should give it a priority since people bought the agent based on the compatibility charts which turned out to be wrong. Re: EV 8.0 Using EV Management Shell to set Backup Mode I ran into the same problem with backupexec. The way I did it was to leave the powershell script on the EV server, and use RCMD to launch it. But, even then it didn't work until I used the Start command to call the batch file. For example, RCMP \\evserver start c:\batchfile.bat Also, don't forget to put an exit in your batch file so that focus will come back to the backupexec media server. There is also a stored procedure that you can launch from your script to backup the SQL databases, which is listed on the technote for backing up EV. Re: Random PST's not migrating assuming you are doing server-driven migration...do you have a dektop firewall enabled? If so, you might want to trying unblocking TCP port 135 which is used by RPC. Migrating a Closed Partition? Hello, Is it possible to perform migration of a ClosedVault Store Partition off to a 3rd tier storage (or tape using NBU integration) or does the collections and migrations feature only work with Open partitions? Thanks!
