Backup Exec Tape Selection in Media Set Hi, We have Backup Exec 11d and there are two jobs setup and they use tapes in the following order: 1) append to existing tape 2) if no appendable tape found then use overwritable media. There is a Media Set called WEEKLY which has two tapes in slots 7 and 8 and they are both scratch media (overwritable). How does Backup Exec determine which tape to use from the Media Set when both tapes are overwritable? Does it go by which tape is in which slot? Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks. Re: Tape Selection in Media Set Thanks guys, i have a better understanding now. Re: Tape Selection in Media Set The job(s) have been set up with: "Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available". The media has appendable period of 2 weeks, so in theory it should start to use the overwritable media? Tape Selection in Media Set Hi, I am using Backup Exec 11d installed on a windows 2003 backup server. there is a weekly media set with two tapes, one of them is highlighted in blue indicating scratch media and the second tape is appendable, during a backup job assigned with this Media Set, how does it choose which tape to use? Does it choose to use the tape which is appendable or the scratch media? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. SolvedRe: Newbie to Veritas Netbackup - Backups Failingwe are using a script and have checked the output of the rman script and it definately confirms that rman is not exiting properly. we are on oracle 9i Re: Newbie to Veritas Netbackup - Backups FailingI have checked that we do not have this option enabled. what is interesting is that there are no errors at all in the netbacklogs, but rman is failing to exit properly. i have seen rman processes left running in the morning. have you seen this before Re: Newbie to Veritas Netbackup - Backups Failing how will the autonegotiate setting being turned off affect me? does this mean that once the live backup has completed, i will have to manually take the backup of the training database?? what i did on friday was change the policy to take backup of one of the databases to find out if there is a problem with taking backups of two databases. Ive just checked that the backup failed over weekend. I will have to get the exact message and will post here.
