Installing Netbackup 8.0 to Centos 7 - unable to retrieve master certificate
Hello, We have an old physical server that is running CentOS 7, and we need to install Netbackup agent to it to secure our data, We have our master server in Windows Server 2012 R2, so we try to install Netbackup agent 8.0 to our client. the setup was successful. The first thing that we tried to do, is retrieving master server CA Certificate with the command, nbcertcmd getCertificate, but we receive the following error: [root@siege-gea-nas bin]# ./nbcertcmd -getCertificate -server siege-adm-003.domain.local Request to get the certificate deployment level failed. EXIT STATUS 8500: Connection with the web service was not established. we tested network connectivity, and name resolutions and they work correctly. we even made sure that there's no firewall, weither in the master, media servers, or in the centos client. Could you please, tell us what we can do to install the client successfully?1.5KViews0likes5Commentshow to configure alerts in opscenter for queued jobs
Hello everybody! sporadically we have a problem with a SAP log backups filling the queue on a dedicated netbackup domain. I am looking for information about configuring an alert in opscenter to monitor the number of queued jobs and send an email if that number is more then a configured value. I did not find something relevant in the opscenter admin guide so I hope that somebody having experience with similar alert would step in and share. thank you in advance!1.8KViews0likes10CommentsHow to back up RHEV-H physical node
Hello, I have NBU 8.2 installed and an RHV 4.3 environment (3-nodes) with many VMs. I have successfully configured VM backups. However, I want to back up the physical nodes as well in case of failures. As I know, the nodes have a "light" or custom version of RHEL installed on them and I'm not sure if the NBU agent for RedHat will be able to be installed there. I could not find anything related to the procedure of backing up the RHEV-H nodes online and was hoping to find a solution here. All help is appreciated. Have a nice day.793Views0likes2Comments'Auto Saved' files unrecoverable?
Hey All, I ran into an issue with a customer and came to the conclusion that NetBackup just will not recover "auto saved" files and those that were open. However, customer is asking if it backed up, it should be recoverable, which is a valid point. I could not find documentation to prove this and am hopping on here to see whether or not you can validate. Here is why: customer came with an exit status 185, error log attached. Backups past 7 days are not recoverable. we changed net buffer size and created a touch file for restore size to smaller blocks from the linux media to the win client we addedCLIENT_NAME = <master FQDN> in the master bp.conf validated the backup in catalog after above steps, we restored the requested files and they failed with the same status. However, we were able to restore a spreadsheet from 2-weeks prior and verified it was from the same backup image of the two files. Both files mentioned had "(Auto Saved)" in the file name and backed up a sister file with a '~' as a prefix. The fact we ran a file level restore from the same image and same directory, proved nothing was wrong with the backup. But am I correct in thinking these files are just pointer records and it's the admins' duty to exclude them from backup?1.2KViews0likes4CommentsInter Site SLP fails but Intra Site SLP succeeds
I have two datacenters, with a clustered master server node, media servers and an SSO connected tape library in each. I migrated our server infrastructure from older hardware running Windows Server 2008 R2 to newer servers running Windows Server 2012 R2 (Master Server Cluster Nodes) or 2016 (Media Servers), the IP addresses from the old media servers were re-used for the new servers Since the re-platform, existing SLP duplications between the two datacenters fail. The required media is loaded into the tape drives in each site, the server hosting the images to be duplicated queues the restore, the target server queues the backup job but the two servers never successfully initiate the communication channel required for the duplication to proceed. If I create an SLP to duplicate from server 1 to server 2 in the same site, the duplication completes successfully. The required media is loaded into the tape drives in the site, the server hosting the images to be duplicated queues the restore, the target server queues the backup job, the servers establish communication and the duplication successfully completes. Can anyone explain the actual processes that initiate SLP duplication, what the process flow is and what to look for when comparing the differences between the successful intra-site and the unsuccessful inter-siteduplications? Thanks, AlunSolved3KViews0likes18Commentscatalog verify - what does this result mean?
I did a VERIFY on media 0095L7 for Primary Copy and even tried just Copy 1 etc... and I get the above result. Im trying to see what date ranges the images on the tape had. Client wants data ( tapes )sent for destruction on Data before a certain date. This volume pool has a total of 11 tapes. Was successful in doing the same verify on the other dates to grasp an idea of the backupid Image dates. Any adivce? I beleive prior to my time that these tapes/data were originally on LT05 tapes but then duplicated to LT07 tapes as the LT05 tape libraries were decommisioned. When performing the verify on the other tapes in this volume pool they show copy 2 as the primary copy. Thanks BC1KViews0likes3Commentsmaster server crash
Hi, I faced with a situation I'd be grateful if you could help. I had a master server and a media server attached. we had policies for oracle that connects to the client and started an script to make a backup using rman. now we totally lost our master server but our backups are safe in the media server. I have to say that we lost the server we have backedup from as well. what can I do to manually add backupfiles to the master server catalog to be able to run the restore script? we don't have any catalog backup from the master server. both master and media servers are running on windows server thank you.2.1KViews0likes10CommentsFile Server backups
Hello guys, Regarding File Server backups for advanced disk, is there any documented recommendations or best practices? My question is: Would the "Backup synthetic" feature for file server backups be useful on a shared network with other critical applications? Because I saw that for backups with a high daily rate of change, the incremental backups are very large, so the synthetic backup would not be any more useful than a traditional full backup. Could other features like Accelerator , Network resiliency play this same role for me to optimize the environment?Solved1.4KViews0likes4CommentsHelp about Parameter "-R" Instant VMWare Recovery
