SAN Client: Support for different kernel versions on Linux Fibre Transport Media servers
Hi all, I am currently going through the Veritas procedure to configuring SAN client and Fibre Transport mode. I need to start nbhba mode on Linux and use the command: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbftsrv_config -nbhba When I use this command, I get the error: "kernel is unknown or not supported, exiting." From this article, I saw that there were other supported kernel versions: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100021571 The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 kernels, which is the kernel that my RHEL 8 backup host is using: I tried to create a symbolic link for the "closest version" kernel, but it says in the guide: "It should be noted that the first three dot separated numbers, such as 2.6.9 or 2.6.16, must match. ", so this will not work. Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?Solved1.1KViews0likes3CommentsNetBackup Master Server is not Supported on Oracle Linux

Good evening everyone and congratulations on the forum. I am writing to ask you for support regarding the deletion of backup images. I have deleted some backup images at the request of a client of mine. I did this, using the console and the Catalog. I searched for the images to be deleted, using the filters. I selected the images to delete, right-clicked and selected Expire (delete). Now, if I run the command: bpimagelist -idonly -d 01/01/19 00:00:00 -e 12/31/2019 23:59:59 -policy <policy_name> -U I still see all the backup images. I noticed that while deleting the images from the catalog, the log file wrote: logparams: -Bidfile D: \ Program Files \ Veritas \ NetBackup \ Logs \ user_ops \ XXXXX \ XXXXX \ logs \ jbpF9A5.tmp -force -d 0 -M XXXXXXXXX -notimmediate Is this why images are not deleted immediately? Due to the -notimmediate option? It is the case to perform: nbdelete -allvolumes -force Or is nbdelete scheduled to run automatically together with bpimage -cleanup -allclients? Thanks for your answers, but I didn't find anything about it in the forum.Solved4.2KViews0likes11CommentsBackup timestamp not getting updated in SQL Studio for VMware SQL aware backups
Hello, We are taking a SQL aware VMware snapshot backup for a SQL VM and the backups/restores are all runnign fine. But the timestamp for the backup date in the SQL studio is not getting updated. It is still reflecting an old date when it was backed up via Avamar which is stopped now as we moved to netbackup and used snapshot backups. Has anyone any idea how to fix this? How can NBU inform SQL that the DB has been backed up and it can update the timestamp? NBU version - 8.3 SQL version - Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise 2014 DBA is running the below query to fetch the backup timestamp: SELECT CONVERT(CHAR(100), SERVERPROPERTY('Servername')) AS Server, msdb.dbo.backupset.database_name, MAX(msdb.dbo.backupset.backup_finish_date) AS last_db_backup_date FROM msdb.dbo.backupmediafamily INNER JOIN msdb.dbo.backupset ON msdb.dbo.backupmediafamily.media_set_id = msdb.dbo.backupset.media_set_id WHERE msdb..backupset.type = 'D' GROUP BY msdb.dbo.backupset.database_name ORDER BY msdb.dbo.backupset.database_name and it doesnt provide the updated backup time for the backup taken by Netbackup.627Views0likes1Comment
