Hello all, I've had to do a quick Windows 8System Restore and it seems to have brokenthe BE .cloudencryption passphrase/connection with client (have a red xon - client encryption key passphrase is no longer valid etc.). Is there any way to create or force a new passphrase creation or client sync? I don't want to have to uninstall/reinstall, create a new profile and then wait a week or more for the client backup datato be full protected. If not, is there a way I can guard against this in the future (i.e. stop the Symantec services, boot into safe mode before I do the MS SR, etc.)? *I've attached a screenshotof the error.956Views2likes3Commentsvm may be too busy to quiesce to take the snaphot. BE2012
Hi Im running ESXi5.0.0 - last week I ran in a few updates to my hosts and it's now at patch number 914586 on my vm's , within the summary tabs , it said that vmwaretools were now out of date. I ran in the update to a few test/uat boxes and all seems fine. However, my backup solution (BE 2012) now fails to back up any of these vm's with the updated vmware tools , saying that the vm may be too busy to quiesce to take the snaphot. Other vms within my environment that are running now out of date vmware tools are able to be backed up fine. I can manually capture/create snapshots on the vm running the update version of vmware tools. I've uninstalled and reinstalled vmware tools and the BE client , but nothing I do can resolve the issue. and followed the KB arcticle that was linked to the error message : Is this a known issue on the vmware side or BE side? Does anyone know if any of following havebeen addressed/implemented by BE 2012: Advanced disk backup option can handle DFS. ADBO allows one to carry out a weekly full and then daily incremental backups. Upon restore, BE works out which of the incremental backups it needs to re-synthesise the folder Dedupe backup of Exchange GRT. BE 2010 simply dumps raw EDB & LOG files in the dedupe folder which means it isn't taking advantage of dedupe Improved dedupe backup performance, e.g. adaptive multi-threaded agent plus server side SQL performance improvements - aim to get dedupe speed closer to B2D Better backup performance for DFS Ability to restore back to DFS system directly without causing DFS replication to re-start/reset Improved dedupe resiliance or at least a tool to repair broken dedupe systems Mirroring of backup system to a passive remote site Multiple deduplication storage areas on single media server (although it #4 is done, less ofa requirement) Much improved error messages and diagnostics? For example, no cryptic mention of the world of tapes on a pure disk based backup system This is the start of our project to review our backup methodology. Hi, I have a Windows cluster running MS SQL server. I want to install the backup agent on it in order to take the backup, I am wondering if I will install the agent on each node using the node name or I will install it on the cluster using the cluster name ? Hello, We recently purchased 2 Backupexec appliances. I was planning to run one locally. Once it was setup and backuping up properly, I was going backup that one to the second and then ship to our secondary location, and then backup to it remotely. While setting up the first one, I've run into some installation issues. Could someone please help me, and explain how can I install clients on linux servers and Mac Servers and/or workstations. I can't seem to figure out how to install backupexec clients on these. Thanks for your time and help. Hello people who are reading this. Here is whats going on. I have 3 servers running vmware ESXi5.1and vCenter controlling them.I havea brand newSymantec 3600 Appliance. All the VM's are stored on a SAN connected by iSCSI. Now the old way I've been backing up the VM's is by installing the Agent for windows on the VM's and backing them up like that. Everything works fine like that. Since I now have the 3600, I shouldhave the V-Ray edition of agents for VMware. (Understand that I know nothing about the V-Ray edition other than they backup virtural machines better)I have everything from AD toSQL to Exchange and Sharepoint running on VM's. (Server 2003-2008R2)Is the methodof backing up the VM's the same as before oris there a better way then installing an agent on every VM?? Example: I have 3 Host ESXi 5.1 servers and 1 vCenter and 10 VM's. What is the best way to backup all the VM's? Do I install an agent on every VM? I have the option ofadding a vCenter server to my list of servers to backup, when I edit the selections I can see all the VM's on all the hosts but when I expand a VM it just shows the vmdk. Is there a way to backup both the vmdk and individual files on the server in one job? (i.e. exchange mailboxes, documents, etc.) Or do I create one job to backup the vmdk and one to backup the server itself?? Hopefully someone can understand my madness lol Thanks for any help!Solved875Views1like3Comments
