Physical volume library drive or Robot paused, offline or disabled
Hi all, I had opened up the magzine of the autoloader and replace the tape manually. After that, I encountered the error whenever I tried to bring the robotic library online and which I swop back to the original tape. Now, how do I resolved this and what would be the correct procedures to replace the tape from the autoloader using BE2012? Regards, Qingyan

im using backup exec 11d., i have this problem since last week..all the things cannot be backup and on queue "Please insert overwritable media into the robotic library using the import command. Overwritable media includes scratch, blank, and recyclable media. Please note that depending on the current Media Overwrite Protection setting, imported and allocated media may be overwritable as well. Consult the online help for more information on overwritable media." please consult me in this situation..

V-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib.
Hello Everyone, Currently we have a server 2008 64bit server with BE 2014 which was upgrade from 2012 and for some strange reason I keep getting this particular error message while backing up a few VMs as you can see below. V-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib. VixDiskLib_Read() reported the error: NBD_ERR_DISKLIBV-79-57344-38366 - WARNING: "VMVCB::\\10.0.1.5\VCGuestVm\(DC)ha-datacenter(DC)\vm\SCSMDW\SCSMDW\SM Warehouse-000002.vmdk" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify. Transport mode 'nbd' was used for the read operation of the disk 'SM Warehouse_1-000002.vmdk' In addition, I have research this particular message and I have not yet found anything online that is exactly what I am having issues with. Furthermore to provide additional background information the issue that I am having with the VM are on an Exsi host that is running version 5.5.

Hello I can't backup only this Vm with Backup Exec 2014 since a very long time. They are no snapshot existed in snapshot Manager. When i select manually only one VM using snapshot technology .. Could you help me ? it says always .. And after the message appears.... ANd, Why it talk about restore ? I giev a backup not arestore. Error : e00084bd - The system cannot find the path specified - unable to restore file or directory. See the job log for details. Agent used : Yes Advanced Open File Option used : No

Bu VSS hatası için genel olarak net bir çözüm bulamamıştık, microsoft VSS Backup hatasını kabullenmiş bununla ilgili bir sürü makale ve güncelleme çıkarmış ancak net bir çözüm için Exc SP2 Rollup 4 veya SP3 Geçerseniz düzelir diyordu.. Veritas backup forumlarından yola çıkarak edindiğim bilgiler doğrultusunda şunları yaparak çözdüm. 1. Ekteki Vss-update311216.reg dosyasını her CCR deki nod1 ve nod2 ye yüklenmesi gerekiyor 2. Nod’larda symantec agent kurulurken AOF (Advanced open file) kurulmaması gerekiyor 3. Backup jop ayarlarken AOF disable edilmesi 4. Back up from the active copy only mutlaka seçilmeli. Default gelen önerilen seçilmemeli. Konuyu farklı bir şekilde anlatan symantec formu aşağıdadır. Ama en doğrusu benim izlediğim yoldur. FSDepends Registry Value and it's impact on Backup Exec's functionality
On Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, I have been trying to create a VM through Hyper-V. The following error "A Virtual Disk Provider for the specified file was not found" was displayed, which has been addressed in the Support article below: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH124353.html It suggests that the registry key "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FsDepends" REG_DWORD value "Start" be changed from "3" to "0" as a solution. It continues: "When any third-party backup software loads its tape device driver, the software can sometimes result in FSDepends.sys and VHDMP.sys not initializing correctly." However, before I make the registry change and restart, could someone kindly please explain what the FSDepends.sys does and why Symantec Backup Exec requires the registry value to be set to a value of 3 in the first place? Was there an error in Backup Exec?

How do I remove a disconnected disk storage ?
I am having the problems removing a disconnected disk from backup exec 2012 I have a disk that I want to remove, there are no jobs associated with it that I can find but I get the error Remove-BEDiskStorageDevice : Unable to delete the disk storage. The device (or Backup Exec server) cannot be deleted because existing jobs or selection lists remain. You must select another target for these jobs or selection lists befor e you can delete the device or Backup Exec server. Deduplication when using SQL Server backup compression
A quick question about using NetBackup with compressed SQL Server backups. Our backups infrastructure consists of NetBackup v7.6 and NetBackup 5230 appliances. Our SQL server estate is a mixture of SQL Server versions 2005-2012 on Windows 2003-2012. We've noticed that the deduplication ratio (as reported by backup jobs in Netbackup Activity Monitor) for compressed SQL backups is 0% (we experimented with the NetBackup SQL Agent and alsostandard flat file backups). Now we weren't expecting to get much deduplication out of a compressed SQL Server backup - but it was a suprise to get nothing at all. Previous tests performed on other deduplication platforms(Exagrid and Windows native 2012 deduplication) showed that a noticeable (albeit muchlower rate compared with uncompressed backups)deduplication level of about4:1 was possible withcompressed SQL Server backups. So my question is - is this a configuration issue on our NetBackup infrastructure - or is there a technical\designreason why thededuplication of compressed SQL Server backups is not available inNetBackup?
