BESR 2010 management
When is BESR 2010 management going to be compatible with WIN2008? It's more than one year (maybe 2 years?) that BESR2010 is out, and it is still not compatible with WIN2008. This isn't acceptable! A good software cannot require to run on an 8 years old S.O.!! 8 years! A software with "2010" in it's name not beeing compatible with an S.O. with "2008". This sounds odd to everyone!!! I hope somene is going to give a good answer to this wuestion, and not just the same stupid ones like "work on 2008 compatibility is in progress" or "we hope to release it in the following months" or "support is scheduled for next year" because next year has came, we have been waiting not for months but for years, and still nobody has given us a precise release date. I'm not going to buy this software (that costs quite a lot of money) to have only WIN2003 support. And like me there are a lot of people who won't buy it until you'll full support WIN2008956Views0likes10CommentsBESR 2010 restore on SBS 2008 computer name change
Hello Support, Thanx for all the help i've received in this forum. i really apreciate you all. i really need help now. i have installed BESR 2010 when it was newly released (version 9.0.0 2----- not sure exactly) and i was able to restore the recovery points i created on Windows 2003 and 2008 server and Windows 7 on desktops and laptops. I don't really have the BESR download any longer because i deleted the file last moth when i downloaded the latest version 9.0.1 36527. Installing this version and creating a recovery point on an SBS 2008 server and Windows 2008 servers for a client. To be used in the event of a disaster. i get the following display at logon "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship". I cannot login to the SBS server using the domain credentials. I get a .\Administrator (this obviously wants a local administrator password which i don't have on the DC). I can only login to the SBS server using the domain credentials from safe mode. I try the file server and other servers on the network which also have their recovery points created and restored. i get the same login to local computer. Though on these other servers i can login using the domain credentials, but i notice that the computer names for all of the servers have changed. I was not getting this situation when i had the very first version of BESR 2010. It is strange because i checked one of the recovery points i have from the old version and i see there is a System Reserved drive (about 100MB) created. i tested a restore using this recovery point and the computer name is not changed. This updated BESR 2010 does not have any System Reserved drive created. I really want to know why the computer names have changed. I do not intend to connect these restored servers to the network to avoid IP address conflicts. I do not also intend to change the computer names as the original computers still exist on the domain. I hope i have not bored you with my note. i contacted some friends and they wanted to know if i had used VSS during the recovery point. This i did while creating the recovery point. I also tested with manually starting the VSS service before creating another one. Is there any document to specify step by step what need s to be done before i create the recovery point to avoid a computer name change? Also to aid in logging on to this SBS 2008 restored server? I will be very grateful if i can get a response. I noticed some other users have encountered similar issue with the computer name change, yet no response has been forth coming in resolving this. thank you so very much.Solved1.4KViews0likes7CommentsCarte réseau non reconnu dans BESR 8.5
Bonjour. Merci338Views0likes1CommentBackup Exec System Recovery Management Solution 2010
I am currently using BESRMS 2010. I must say I am not too pleased in this development and have had nothing but problems. I am at the point where it would be more effective for me to connect to each machine and check each backup job. In any case, issue number 5 I have had so far is related to my backup jobs showing the next time to run to be in the past, or even to show NONE. I look at my backup policies which are active, and on. When I am in my computers menu I see all my clients and 80% of them show the last back up and then say "Next backup run time" as NONE, or will show like 3 days ago, or 56 days ago. I hadthis issue open with symantec and they couldn't help me at the time. They had me upgrade the version of BESRMS i have installed and then re-rollout some altiris agents, complete with BESR plug in and BESR 2010 software. This worked for about 3 days and then i started to see issues again. I was curious if anyone else has had the problems such as this and what your solutions have been. With SYMANTEC, i have already ruled out the following: -Network issue -Silverlight display issue -Version issue -IIS issue -configuration issue (in fact we also started a new virtual server and did a fresh install Im open to any suggestions547Views0likes4Commentsbesr 2010 unable to successfully recover
all, I have successfully installed and created restore points of the trial software availible on the web site. I was attempting to recover this to a similar server not in use at the current time. I have utilized the recovery cd and "restored" this computer sucessfully. upon reboot I continually get a error in OS. or it may be worded OS Error.. either way the system does not boot. " universal restore" or "rrstore anywhere" was enabled. I understand this was trial ware but I would exspect it to work a little. Anyone else having this issue?271Views0likes0CommentsHow to setup 1st Sunday of the month for my desktop clients?
Can someone help me setup backup jobs which will perform monthly backups on the 1st Sunday @ 02:00 for example?I can do the 1st or 2nd or 3rd day of the month etc or every Sunday or Monday but i can't seem to find the option to do a specific calendar day of the month! Why u ask? simple i have tons of clients which run 72 hour tests all month long but not on the first Friday of the month due to calibration and service tests. The nightly incremental backups don't impact on the tests but the full base can cause the apps to bomb out or miss incoming data and i don't want the desktopsto clash with the server backups which run weekly on a Saturday because the backup server can't handle the clients and servers backups in one go.256Views0likes0CommentsBESR 8.5 Scheduled Conversion to ESX VMDK
Hi We have BESR 8.5 backing up afull recovery point once a week of out SBS 2008 server. For the rest of the week we have incrementals taken once a night. Wewould like to begin scheduling a nightly conversion to ESX VMDK so that if the primary server fails we can bring the virtual machine online with less than a day of data loss. My question is: How does the scheduled conversion work? Does it re-create the VMDK from scratch each time a conversion job is run? Or does BESR have the ability to update the VMDK with only the incremental changes after the nightly incremental? The reason I ask is that our SBS server has over 1TB of data and I'm worried that a restore time may take several days if we need to start from scratch. If anyone has experience or knows of a faster way to restore to a VM (maybe with the recovery CD?)I would be very interesting in hearing about your experiences Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated Adzee398Views1like1Comment
