Hi everybody. I'm working in a transition/instalation of Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003, and now I'm going to install EV OWA Extensions on CAS 2010 Servers. Now, I have EV 9.0, but I will upgrade EV to 10.0.3 in few months. Can I install the OWA Extensions 2010 in the new CAS servers with EV server 9.0? Or I may install the 9.0 version by the moment? What is the best bractice for implementing EV in such below environment. I have two main datacenters and one disaster recovery datacenter. One of those MS exchange server is located in main datacenter as two mailboxes databases with DAG and two CAS/HUB with network load balancing (NLB). The other MS exchange server is located in another building as one server with all roles and a second server with mailbox role without DAG and NLB between servers.Solved680Views3likes4CommentsMigrate from EV9 server, SQL, & Vaults, to new EV 10 server assistance requested.
All, My company currently uses Enterprise vault, version 9.0.3, on a 2008 R2 STD virtual machine, with a remote 2005 SQL server, and attached LUNS for storage, with a NetApp backend, & Exchange 2010 in an DAG environment. Along with this we also have Discovery Accelerator, version 9.0.3 on the same server as EV 9. We want to upgrade our environment to Enterprise Vault 10, and create a secondary server for high availability, using the same specifications. The host will be Windows 2008 R2 ENT, 10 gigs of memory, and 8 cpus. I have been tasked with a full system upgrade & migration, to a new VM host, and new EV 10 installation. Here is what I would like to do, and need guidance on how, if possible, and other tips and suggestions moving forward. After building two new VM’s with EV 10 on them, I would like to migrate services from the EV 9 server, and port all services over to the EV 10 server. There are key items that to my understanding need to be migrated from EV 9, over to EV 10. Mailbox Vault Journal Vault Discovery Accelerator SQL Database from 2005, to 2008 R2 Along with that we are retiring out SQL 2005 environment, and need to migrate EV’s existing SQL data, into a new SQL 2008 R2 server. Since EV requires SQL, and Discovery Accelerator does also, this particular part of the migration eludes me completely. To make things even more complicated, the current storage we are using for EV’s content, is on an old filer, and we need to migrate the vaultsand indexing to our new fast storage, and this also completely eludes me. To review, here are my goals: Build & prep two new 2008 R2 ENT systems for high availability Migrate currently EV9 SQL content from 2005 SQL, to 2008 R2 SQL server. Migrate storage of all EV content, to new fast storage. Within that storage is the Indexes, mail vaults, journal vault, etc I may be completely out of line, however my hope here is to setup a new EV 10 server, attached it to the new fast storage, also set it up to the new 2008 R2 SQL server, and then somehow migrate data & services from the EV 9 server, over to the EV 10 server. Then from there execute the process of decommissioning the old EV 9 server. I would like to avoid doing any software upgrades to the existing EV 9.0.3 server, including Discovery Acclerator, and once the new system is online, simply move data, and services over. I have read several post for this type of process, but I haven’t found anything with specific chronological information for this. If any user or staff member could help, I would be very appreciative. I recently upgraded my OS to Windows 10 from Windows 7. I also upgraded to MS Office 2016 (from MS Office 2010). Finally, I upgraded Enterprise Vault to Version 11 with the Hotfix 3 (From Version 10). Here's the issue: I can successfully sync my vault with my mailbox, but I'm having a problem adding my vaultto Outlook (and accessing my vault files). When I try to add my Virtual Vault to my Outlook Navigation Pane, I get the following error: "Enterprise Vault Could Not Add or Remove the Following Virtual Vaults" Any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Hello all, I've been working on an issue we had the last few weeks, where the VAC reported 'items waiting to be indexed', and where the count went up day by day. While working with support, and in this forum, I also accidentally found an KB article of Symantec, describing hanging searches on DA/CA. As these use the indexes, I read the article. The article mentions that a specific Microsoft Update can cause issues with certain programms (TSM, SEP) and affects ASP, .Net and IIS. Hm... Indexing uses these too. We initially left archiving tasks in reportmode, to allow indexing to cactch up, ran dtraces etc. No succes. Support advised we might need to reinstall the indexing binaries. I decided to first have the updated MS Update applied. After having that update applied, and the EV-servers rebooted, indexing catched up. The VAC now shows "No problems detected". Information can be found here: The Symantec article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH232439 The updated MS KB article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3092627 I hope this assists some of you in figuring out in resolving the issue (if you encounter this) Regards, GJ695Views2likes2CommentsJPEG File Type Indexed?
Hello. I am trying to determine if Enterprise Vault 9.x and up can index and archive .JPEG file types. I found TECH (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH62810) titled 'File types that Enterprise Vault can convert for indexing' but just prior to the list of file types the text reads "The following are examples of file types that cannot be converted to text or HTML and are excluded by default in Enterprise Vault 10.0." .JPEG is in the list which leads me to believe they cannot be converted. But a link at the bottom points to Oracle Outside In Technology 8.4.1 Supported Formats @ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/content/ds-oitfiles-133032.pdfand under Raster JPEG is listed. Does Enterprise Vault 9.x and up support indexing and archiving JPEG files? Thank you.Solved721Views2likes4Comments
