JPEG File Type Indexed?

Hello.  I am trying to determine if Enterprise Vault 9.x and up can index and archive .JPEG file types.  I found TECH (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH62810) titled 'File types that Enterprise Vault can convert for indexing' but just prior to the list of file types the text reads "The following are examples of file types that cannot be converted to text or HTML and are excluded by default in Enterprise Vault 10.0."  .JPEG is in the list which leads me to believe they cannot be converted.  But a link at the bottom points to Oracle Outside In Technology 8.4.1 Supported Formats @ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/content/ds-oitfiles-133032.pdf and under Raster JPEG is listed.

Does Enterprise Vault 9.x and up support indexing and archiving JPEG files?

Thank you.

  • .jpeg are images, so the metadata will be indexed.  (filename, date, etc..) and it will be archived.

  • Hi Tony, another question please, is there a size limitation on the source file and indexing for FSA?  In other words, do not index files greater than 2 GB?  Assumes we are talking about a fully indexible item, e.g. Excel or Word document.  Probably does not apply for image files as only the metadata is indexed.

  • I am pretty sure there is a limit for conversion to html, I believe that is 256MB.  I don't think there is a limit on actually indexing any longer but would need to confirm.
