Data centre migration - NetBackup BMR for Solaris clients
Need some advise on migration strategy to migrate Solaris based physical clients from one DC to another. The target DC is a different NetBackup domain. The client data is hosted on EMC and NetApp storage. There isno network connectivity between source and target data centres. The cutover options are likely to be limited to the physical transfer and restore of data using tapemedia. The targetDC server hardware and firmware will be "near"identical to the source environment. I am planning to use NetBackup BMR (currently NBU is being used in source DC for client backup with NO BMR). I understandthat a BMR master server and Boot Server (seperate boot server) needs to beintroduced. The SRT process The target DC will have NBU Master/Media servers and a compatible storage library. Image import (2 phase import) from tape media will be required I need to use network boot option as transfer of boot media (CD/DVD) will not be allowed Can I transfer thenetwork boot image on tape to the target DC and restore on target client? Do I need BMR master and boot server in target DC? What else do I need in the source and target DCs?

NetBackup SSO - issues writing to tape library across the domain
I am having some issues in writing to a shared (SSO) library from across the AD domain. We have capacity based licensing model using NetBackup version 7.1.0.4 There are 2 x AD domains A.local & B.com: There is a firewall between the two AD domains. However, upon request all the ports for AD and NBU across the firewall have been allowed. The name resolution has been tested. The A.local domain has 1 x NBU Master and 2 x Media servers (on seperate physical boxes) running on Windows 2008 R2. The shared tape library (4 drives) is zoned to one of the Media server in A.local domain. The 4 drives are also shared for NDMP backups. Issue: Now, a new Media server on Windows 2008 R2 in B.com domain has been introduced connected to the NetBackup Master server in A.local. The new Media server is able to communicate with the Master server and completing successful backups (of some B.com domain clients, some failing with handshaking issues) to the storage disk pool attached to this Media server. I managed to add the library and all 4 x drives through the storage configuration wizard and it allows me to create storage pool. When I try to duplicate the backups from B.com Media server using the tape library connected to A.local Media server, the duplicate job hungs with error "the drives are down". When I look at the device status, the drive showing the new media server name against it shows AVR mode. On the new media server i ran "vmoprcmd -d -h", the output is as follows; PENDING REQUESTS <NONE> DRIVE STATUS Drv Type Control User Label RecMID ExtMID Ready Wr.Enbl. command to display the schedule name of the policies
Hi Team, need help here. May i know the command that displayed the schedule name of the policies. i used bppllist -U but its only display the policy name. i just want to display also the schedule name. sample: policy name schedule name test Full backups regards

How to use maximum slots of SL500 StorageTek tape library?
Hi, I have SL500 tape library at our site. We have 100 tapes in the library slots.There are many more free slots in it, but i am not able to use these free slots when i do inventory. Can any say what is the reason for this. How to add tapes to this free slots? Any suggestions for using these free slots.

GRT on virtual tape
i want to backup Active Directory and Exchange using GRT but i am facing a problem with GRT technology, GRT needs physical disk i have a virtual taope which means disks but seen by netbackup as a virtual tape , how can i make the GRT works with this virtual tape... it's urgent for me to bakup these servers with GRT technology

Dear Sir/Madam, The market is talking about RDX to replace entry level/EOL mid-range level tape drive. I would like to know about RDX is support by NetBackup now? I am looking forward of Prostor/Imation/Tandberg RDX Library system before decided go for RDX solution. I cannot find RDX support information by NetBackup. Please advice. Thanks, Raymond

NB 6.5.6 Solaris 10 and IBM ultrium 5/lto5 tape drives and multipathing
We have an IBM 3594 tape library with some dual port LTO5 tape drives. We have them connected to 2 different Brocade switches - so multipathed. The master and media servers are all running Solaris 10u9 and NB 6.5.6. The Tape library and tape drives are at the latest firmware levels. The multipathed robot via NB seems fine. We are having issues periodically with the tape drives becoming unavailable and causing PLOGI errors in the servers. We are using the native Solaris st drivers. It seems to be more of a tape drive to server issue - not NB. Does NB 6.5.6 support us using the IBMTape driver instead of the st drivers? Has anyone gotten the multipathing ibm lto5 tape drives to work with Solaris 10 andNB 6.5.6 properly ? Regards Kelly

NetBackup 6.5 on Solaris 9 (SPARC), with a fibre-attached robot. Server lost power.
