Hi I’m looking for information which encryption algorithm is used for data replication between storage pools. I found out that some configuration file – topology.ini - is encrypted using AES 256 . Does someone know whether the same method is used for data replication ??? I also found some rumor in the net that in previous versions of PD Blowfihs was used. Hello, I have just downloaded the puredisk virtual appliance evaluation, before downloading the vm template it stated: Download this risk-free 30-day trial of the NetBackup PureDisk Virtual Appliance, and experience the industry's best deduplication solution. Symantec offers two evaluation options of the NetBackup PureDisk software: The NetBackup PureDisk Virtual Appliance, which can be imported into a VMware ESX or ESXi server. This pre-configured virtual appliance is ideal for test and small production environments. A softcopy in ISO format of the bootable installation CDs containing the PureDisk OS and PureDisk Application for larger test and production environments. Please click "Continue" to complete the brief contact form in order to download the software and obtain a trialware license. After following the process through there is no license key for me to download nor is it sent to me via email or anything. All I get it the option to download the zip files. Is anyone able to provide me with a eval code to test this or point me in the right direction? Thanks582Views2likes1CommentPuredisk Dedupe vs. NBU 7 Dedupe
I have 23 remote file servers backing up to a Puredisk server here on site. I am in the process of upgrading my NBU 6.5.5 to NBU 7.0. Does anyone have any experience with NBU 7.0 dedupe? Or better yet, does anyone have any experience with Puredisk AND NBU 7 dedupe? I am adding more and more remote servers to my backups and I'm wondering if I need to quit pushing Puredisk to those remote servers if I can use NBU 7.0 to accomplish the same task? I would think NBU 7 would be the cheaper route. Does anyone have any real world experience with this? Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated and even though it won't be rewarded, it will be graded. Thanks Randy574Views0likes2CommentsRe-provisioning EMC Clariion Storage to Pure Disk
We're running a POC with 10TB allocated (EMC Clariion), problem is we need to move storage for better utilization - we've created clone and will snap copy data to LUN - present copied data to PD with previous host ID. So from PD persective would look identical. Question - will stop/start PD services (# /etc/init.d/puredisk stop / start) or shut down/ start PD workor would I need to run a version of DR (DR_Restore_all.sh)? to clean up any database issues I've not considered? Thanks! MikeSolved699Views0likes2CommentsNBU7 Deduplication & Lotus Notes Agent
Anybody else checked out the perforamnce of Lotus Notes agent backups using a NBU7 Deduplicating Media Server? What sort of Dedup rates are you getting with mail databases? What I have seen on HP rebadgedSepatons hasn't been that impressive for mail databse servers. Lotus Notes database that contian non-mail files dedup well. Its only the personal mail files thatseen to be a problem.985Views0likes5CommentsNetbackup 7 Remote office de-duplication
Hi everyone, I am starting the process to look at de-duplication and am looking for any info on what other de-duplication clients have for WAN links. We currently have 7 sites that each have a 10MB pipe connected back to head office with about 400GB worth of data per site being backed up during our full backups. I would say half if not more of that data is duplication across the 7 sites. So my question is can this be done with our network connection? Also can it be done with out a media server in the remote office and just de-duplicate from the client across the wan link to the backup server in HQ?550Views0likes2Comments
