Storage Foundation 5.1 and MSCS not working
Hi. We want to use Storage Foundation 5.1 to manage our dual path disk. We are clustering MS BizTalk 2006 so we need to use MSCS to Cluster BizTalk. Problem is that MSCS cannot see the disk group created in SF. We are using Windows 2003 Enterprise Server R2 We installed SF first and the disk groups appear fine. Then we tried to configure MSCS and it could not see the disk. During some investigation we discovered we needed the MSCS Option, so we added our "VRTS STORAGE FOUNDATION OPTION MICROSOFT CLUSTER 5.1 WIN FOR OS TIER ENTERPRISE EDITION STD LIC" license key and it indicated that the MSCS option is available. However, when we go back to Add/Remove programs to select this option, it does not appear as a choice in the add/remove SF options. How should we proceed? Is there a seperate plug in we need to download or should it appear in the list of options in the SF installation screen? Do we need to have MSCS configured before we install SF so it can detect it? Any advice would be appreciated. WarrenSolved1.9KViews0likes4CommentsStorage Foundation for Windows - WELCOME SPLASHSCREEN
Hello, I am in the middle of engineering a new build for my company and we are rolling out Vertias Storage Foundation for Windows 5.1 SP2 to all new servers going forward (R2 SP1). One of the things I have noticed when Veritas has been installed is the "Solutions Configuration Center" splashscreen that appears when the user logs in. Nowthen, I know there us a checkbox to disable it so it does not appear again but was wondering if there is a registry key I can call so that this can be done automatically so it does not launch. Everything is automateed so makes sense to follow this approach - hate to have hundreds of users call asking how annoying the splashscreen is! Hi, I'm in the middle of a proposal and the customer ask us to describe the way (step by step) to migrate their MSCS (2003) to SFWHA (VCS)? do you know if Symantec has a procedure? Any recommendation? The customer requires minimal impact and smooth process? Thanks for your help. Gonzalo GomezSolved1.5KViews0likes7CommentsMSSQL 2012 cluster High Availability on VMware

Good Morning, We have set up a RAID 10 using SFW using several SSD drives and are running into some read performance issues. We believe that the Device Type detection in SFW is partly to blame. Our SSD drives are PCI bus (FusionIO) based and are being detected as UNKNOWN. I have attached a screenshot of this behavior. Having read the section in "Using Veritas Storage Foundation with Solid State Drives.pdf" which deals with this problem, I am aware of the following method for attributing SSD to a device with an UNKNOWN type. vxdisk set <diskname> mediatype=ssd or to force: vxdisk -f set <diskname> mediatype=ssd However, this option does not seem to be available in the Windows version of vxdisk. Is there any other way in SFW to manually set the Device Type of a disk if it is not automatically detected properly? We are currently evaluating this product as a way to get a software RAID 10 on Windows Server 2003. Hi, I have a small doubt regrading choosing Operating System when using veritas (DMP). I have been using it on solaris, where i alwayskept using command line.It was nice using command line. It gave me more number of options to get informationregrading each and every thingIneed ( for example,, controllerinformation, array information , enable/disable path and lot more to perform ). Now I started using SFW5.1 DMP option which has a pretty good GUI.As I am not intrested in usingGUI, I go only for CLI. When I started using CLI, I felt it was purely different fromusing CLI on solaris.Commands which I used for Solaris were different from windows (may be operating system dependent). Many features which i used in solrais were not seen Windows. Is it that an operating system made a huge impact on the usage of DMP option in Veritas product. Could some one please answer this! I'm unable to extend my system/boot volume using SF 5. Presumably due to the original disk being basic then converted etc. Is there another product that can accomplish this or a workaround? IHACr who wants to Implement a Windows SFHA Cluster with a shared vmdk disk. They have procured the SFHA Windows license. The Cluster nodes/VM's will be hosted on seperate ESX hosts. Few questions: a) Is this configuration (shared vmdk) supported in a Windows SFHA cluster? b) What happens in case one VMware ESX host fails? Will the VM in the second host continue having access to the shared vmdk? c) This question is not related to Symantec but more specific to VMware ESX. How should the datastore in VmWare be configured. My understanding is that a SAN LUN datastore can only be seen by one VMware host at a time?Solved1.1KViews1like2Comments
