SFHA - Windows with VMware shared vmdk disk
IHACr who wants to Implement a Windows SFHA Cluster with a shared vmdk disk. They have procured the SFHA Windows license. The Cluster nodes/VM's will be hosted on seperate ESX hosts. Few questions: a) Is this configuration (shared vmdk) supported in a Windows SFHA cluster? b) What happens in case one VMware ESX host fails? Will the VM in the second host continue having access to the shared vmdk? c) This question is not related to Symantec but more specific to VMware ESX. How should the datastore in VmWare be configured. My understanding is that a SAN LUN datastore can only be seen by one VMware host at a time?Solved1.1KViews1like2CommentsMSSQL 2012 cluster High Availability on VMware

Hi, having implemented a two-node Server 2008 R2-based MSCS with multipathing (MS MPIO) I experienced some problems to create dynamic disk cluster group while configuring SFW. Doing some tests, also with SCSIcmd tool, I was able to identify the multipathing as potential cause of the problems. I found the following page https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/veritas-storage-foundation-windows-dynamic-multi-pathing-competitive-comparisons but it doesn't state that SFW dynamic multipathing feature would be generally a REQUIREMENT to operate SFW on a MSCS. So: My first question is, if Symantec SFW dynamic multipathing feature is required to operate my setup. The second question would be what I can do if my disk arrays aren't listed in the DSM support list. Environment: Nodes: 2x Dell PowerEdge T710 servers with Broadcom 10G dual-port iSCSI HBAs; Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 fully patched Storage: EonStor InforTrend S16E-G1240 disk arrays; each configured as RAID5; EonPath (InforTrend DSM for MPIO) is installed; node addressing by Microsoft iSCSI-Initiators. Both the Microsoft cluster and the MPIO setup works perfectly without SFW. SFW is required for storage virtualization and VVR. Thanks in advance! Hello, I am in the middle of engineering a new build for my company and we are rolling out Vertias Storage Foundation for Windows 5.1 SP2 to all new servers going forward (R2 SP1). One of the things I have noticed when Veritas has been installed is the "Solutions Configuration Center" splashscreen that appears when the user logs in. Nowthen, I know there us a checkbox to disable it so it does not appear again but was wondering if there is a registry key I can call so that this can be done automatically so it does not launch. Everything is automateed so makes sense to follow this approach - hate to have hundreds of users call asking how annoying the splashscreen is! Thanks,Solved1.6KViews0likes3Commentsremove a schedule
Hi all, I was playing around with the flashsnap option (on windows SFHA for Windows 5.1 SP1)and created 3 schedules. Now I want to delete these but can't seem to do that. When I right click and delete the schedule it says "OK"but it stills shows in VEA. Trying todelete it again it says "Failed to delete schedule" I looked in the logging and it says that the schedue was succesfully deleted. I stopped the VEA GUI and restarted it but still the schedules pop up. Anyone any idea how to delete these permanentely?Solved724Views0likes2CommentsSymantec Storage Foundations 5.1 and evacuating disks
I have a two (2) node MS Cluster, each running Storage Foundations for Windows 5.1 and Windows 2003 R2. the volumes within the disk groups are striped. I am migrating to a new SAN and no longer need striping. Am I able to evacuate each disk from a striped volume to a non-striped volume? Or do I need to use mirroring within Storage Foundations to accomodate this?Solved865Views0likes5Comments
