PostgreSQL - backup of WAL files
Dear community, I need some help. I have setup one datastore backup policy that runs Application backup of PostgreSQL database. Now I am looking in how to manage WAL backups. I need the logs backed up at least once an hour so that I can restore any hour of the day. Meaning hour back if needed. (Oracle database backups have intelligent policies to manage backup of logs, but this is not the case for PostgreSQL) I have thought of creating another Standard policy that will run every hour to backup specific directory where all WAL files will be located. I could use crontab to schedule hourly job that runs bparchive command and set it to automatically delete files that have been backed up. However, this becomes very difficult to manage on NetBackup and client side, if you plan to have around 500 databases in the future. Protection plan is a no-go, as it is not very useful and does not allow for customization of SLPs. (meaning you will end up using a lot of disk backup storage) Has anyone found good solution for backing up PostgreSQL databases? Thank you for your assistance in this. Hello, I am trying to add NetBackup master server hosted over Flex appliance in Netbackup self service but after adding the Master server checkconnectivity option not working. As per Netbackup self service configuration guide prereqesties are : The user account that NetBackup Self Service uses to logon to SSH on the master server needs sudo configuration: ■ The user account should not use requiretty. ■ The user account should not require a sudo password. ■ With sudo, the user account should run all commands in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin and /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd. So i created new user on Netbackup master server and give superuser rights to user. so that user can execute all netbackup commands without sudo. But still check connectivity option not working. Is there any sperate procedure to add Netbackup master server (hosted on Flex appliance) in Netbackup self service ? In Netbackup self service documentation and Flex appliance documentation no procedure found.448Views0likes1Comment- 138Views0likes2Comments

Hello everyone. I've recently learned to config FT and decided to test my oracle backups with FT. Normal filesystem backup from client is fine and it shows the transport protocol is FC. But when I start an Oracle policy, all of child processes fail with error "unimplemented feature", nothing more. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Master server Netbackup version is 10.2 on Redhat 7.9. Client version is 10.0.1 on Solaris 11. Oracle version is 19c. Any help would be great61Views0likes3CommentsIs there a way to backup the OS through NetBackup?
I am curious if it is possible to back up the OS using only netbackup software without using bmr or vsr. There are system state and shadow copy components in the backup selection, and I am wondering if it is possible to backup and restore the server OS through these. If you know any ideas or technote addresses, please let me know.44Views0likes2CommentsUnlock the Power of your Infrastructure with NetBackup and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization
Many customers are looking to modernize their legacy virtualization platforms to cloud-native infrastructures designed for the hybrid cloud. Red Hat OpenShift is the industry’s leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes, providing organizations with a comprehensive and consistent platform to develop, modernize, and deploy applications at scale. OpenShift does not natively provide the enterprise data protection you’ll need for your applications. This is where Veritas NetBackup comes in.
