Have a situation where we had BE 2010 running on a server and it crashed. In recovery process we had to load BE 2012. We have an HP LTO 4 Autoloader 1/8 and had to run a catalog on the tapes to rebuild the backup sets. There is one tape that is critical and it it is not reading any backup sets on it, when we know for certain it does. This tape has data we need to recover, yet catalog shows it as empty. What are my options to force a read of this tape and be able to recover data off it? Much appreciated on help provided!Solved6.3KViews0likes9CommentsList Tape Contents (Symantec BackupExec 12.5)
hi guys, i'm on the task of recovering old datas from old tapes. I can read the tape contents using Symantec Backup Exec, by doing Inventory, and going to the device then clicking on the tape device name. When I do a restore data, I can view the contents of the tape. My question is, is there a way to list the contents of the tape to an excel file or text format? I had downloaded the Catdump utility for Backup Exec 12.5 from this link--> (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH87173) The syntax for this catdump would be: catdump path-to-program-files-and-catalog-GUID.fh > dump-to-text.file But my problem is when I tried to run that command, there's no data generated becaused the catalog.GUID.fh file does not exist anymore, or it might have been deleted. Is there a way to print or list out the tape contents from old tapes if the catalog file has been deleted?Solved5.9KViews1like17CommentsExchange GRT restore - Unable to open the item Database - skipped.

Hi, When taking image backups i am getting the particular error. Even the Full Image backups doesnt work. Image Backups-Incremental Image Backups-Daily -- The job failed with the following error: Incremental\\Differential backup methods are not supported for this VM. The backup job failed, since the option 'to fall back to a full backup' was not selected. I logged a case with Symantec support and they said each VM should have an agent installed whether you need to take a GRT backup or just an image backup. Secondly they said all VMs must have hardware version7 inorder to do an incremental backup inorder to allow change block tracking feature within VMware. As a first step I am trying to push the RAWS agent to each VM. While installing agents on some VMs i am getting the following error 'install failed with error code 1603' I checked firewall settings and they are disabled. Hi, We have a bunch of servers running Windows Server 2008 R2, one of which is our BE 2012 SP4media server. We also have several Windows Server 2012, one running as aDC ie AD/DHCP/DNSand another running Exchange Server 2010 SP3. And we also have a bunch of Windows Server 2012 R2 running as SQL servers and various other applications,Microsoft Business Dynamicsetc Currently we have the BE 2012 SP4 backing up all of them onto Ultrium tape and it seems to be working OK regards targetting the servers and backing them up via agents. I am aware though that BE 2012 SP4 doesn't support Windows Server 2012 R2. Where am I going to come unstuck regards wanting to do recovery of these servers ? Will I be able to do a bare metal restore for the Windows Server 2012 DC and Exchange Server from the BE 2012 SP4 server ? Can I do anything other than flat file restore via the agents on the Windows Server 2012 R2 boxes ? Seems that Symantec seem to have been in the wilderness this last year or so regards Windows Server 2012 R2 ? I see that there is now BE 2014 and also that there is now a BE 15 just released. Am I really going to need to upgrade to these products if I want to do full server recovery for all of my servers ? Mike.Solved5.2KViews0likes2Comments
