Backup Exec log files 38GB
We've had an issue with our server due to lack of free space. We've examined the contents of the drive and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\" is taking up 38GB of space. Can you tell me why it would take up this much space please? More importantly how do i cap it at say 10GB? We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 on a windows 2007 sbs server. All our backups are backup to disk folders on removable drives and we backup also backup exchange and SQL. Thanks, your help is appreciated ThanksSolved12KViews1like4CommentsHaving problem on MSSQL agent backup

From the last couple of days my SQL backup is getting failed with error code 59. I have checked all the communication between master server and media server and client there was no issue but still my backup is getting failed. Any idea what will be the issue. I have a customer running a SQL environment on Windows 2008 with 7.5.0.6 client (unsupported, yes) into a 7.7.3 master server which sends backups on their way any available media server and onto a DataDomain (disk) appliance. A batchfile on the Windows host is configured as follows: OPERATION BACKUP DATABASE $ALL EXCLUDE Conversion_XX EXCLUDE Conversion_YY EXCLUDE Conversion_ZZ EXCLUDE dpa_repository EXCLUDE DBA EXCLUDE master EXCLUDE msdb EXCLUDE tempdb SQLHOST "CLUSTERNAME" BROWSECLIENT "NODENAME2" NBSERVER "NBUMASTER" MAXTRANSFERSIZE 6 BLOCKSIZE 7 BATCHSIZE 20 STRIPES 1 POLICY PTC_DB_SQL_BACKUP003 NBSCHED Daily OBJECTTYPE TRXLOG NUMBUFS 1 ENDOPER TRUE ... and is being called from within SQL as expected. Backups complete successfully and are recoverable. So, that's good. Here's what's weird: the databases continue to peel off the SQL host one at a time, even though BATCHSIZE is set to 20. I've advised our customer to request an upgrade of that 7.5.0.6 client to 7.7.2, but I've meanwhile searched through this forum as well as Veritas' KB articles without finding anything that indicates this to be a bug. Has anyone else experienced this ? Thanks! tySolved3.3KViews0likes6CommentsRestore encrypted SQL database on another server
Hi folks! Recently we applied TDE (Transparent Data Encryption) on some of our SQL databases on an SQL server. Netbackup policies keep working troublefree both for Full and Incremental Backups. Now, we need to perform a restore of one of these databases onto another SQL server where the TDE has been applied as well. I try to make the restore but I got the error with status 2828. Can someone guide me on how to do the restore? Thank you all in advance for the support.Solved3.3KViews0likes3CommentsAdamm Database Event: Database Connection Lost!
Hi all, On the server application log, i encountered such an event which i couldn't find much info as to why and how to resolve this. Adamm Database Event: Database Connection Lost! Hello everyone, We use backup Exec 2010 for backingup from 4 servers. Last night an differential job, using modified time ran. When I checked the status of the backup this morning, I came to the conclusion that the size of the created bkf file whas 5GB. This should be a lot more. Can someone explain how to check the data inside the BKF files? I'm really curious about the data that is backupped and what is not. Thanks in advance!Solved3.1KViews2likes9CommentsFind out the exact backup id(s) associated with specific files/folders that have been backed up
Hi all, When I configure a restore in BAR for a client, say, for the MS-Windows policy type, I can select a specific folder or file, click Actions > Preview Media and it would tell me which media id(s) the folder/file is associated with. Since BAR knows which media id(s) my selected file is stored in, it obviously knows which backup id(s) (image id) the file is associated with. Because if it doesn't, then it shouldn't be able to tell me which media id(s) the file is stored in. What I want to find out, is the backup id(s) associated with the file I selected for restore. The Preview Media option in BAR only tells me the associated media id(s) for the file, but I also want to know its associated backup id(s). If I use the "Images on Tape" report, or the catalog "verify" feature against a media id, it would tell me all the backup ids associated with that media id. But picture this problem: A single backup policy backs up one client: somesvr The selection list contains different drives and folders for somesvr. If the media ABC011 contains ten backup ids, and they all begin with somesvr_xxxxxxxxxx (x = ctime code). Then which backup id(s) out of the ten contains the file C:\test.txt on the server "somesvr" ? In BAR, if I select the file C:\test.txt (for a specific day and time), then use Preview Media, it tells me this file is stored in ABC011. But the problem is, I want to know which backup id(s) out of all backup id(s) inside ABC011 this file is really associated with. Thanks for your time! P.S. I know I could use bpflist to find out what folder/files each backup id contains, but I consider this an inefficient solution when I have hundereds of backup ids to go through.
